big blueberry streusel muffins

I like muffins. They just look pretty. Still every time I tried to make muffins, they don’t look not anywhere near the pretty muffins from the coffee shops- big, fluffy, loaded with crumbles and in that nice mushroom shape!

SO I tried searching for a recipe which comes close to this kind of muffins until I found a recipe for classic blueberry muffins which comes close to what I was thinking of.

Here’s the result! …and the best thing: they taste as good as they look!

For the dough:

  • 190g flour
  • 120g sugar
  • 10g baking powder
  • 80ml neutral oil
  • 1 egg
  • 80ml milk
  • 150g blueberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 pinch of salt

for the streusel:

  • 100g sugar
  • 40g flour
  • 55g butter (in pieces)
  • cinnamon (I tend to use a lot)

Preheat the oven in 200°C (buttom/lower heat).

Defrost the blueberries if you use frozen ones. Mix flour, sugar and baking powder. Mix oil, egg and milk in another bowl and add to the dry ingredients (stir out well). Fold in the blueberries. Add paper baking cups to the muffin pan and pour in the dough.

(I made my own muffin paper cups {found on} and added a jute string for the original look.)

For the streusel, crumble sugar, flour, butter and cinnamon. Add them on top of the muffin dough until they cover all of it.

Bake for 20 to 25 minutes.

Carefully take the muffins out of the form and let them cool down. You can add some extra cinnamon on top if you like. ♥
